Code of Ethics

The Contractors Plant Hire Association (CPHA) has a very high standard of Ethics.

  • Members shall be loyal to and promote the image of the Association and not prejudice the reputation of the Association.
  • Members shall at all times conduct their business activities with the utmost good faith and integrity.
  • A member shall offer advice and service only in areas where it is proficient to render such advice and service.
  • Members will employ and assign to each piece of plant, with only operators who are currently familiar and qualified with that piece of plant.
  • All plant and equipment shall be maintained to a satisfactory standard and will not be allowed to continue operating on site unless all necessary safety standards have been met.
  • Members shall carry liability insurance to provide adequate and reasonable protection to the public against liability arising from their plant and or operation.
  • Members will exert every effort to anticipate their financial obligation and to meet them promptly when due.
  • Members should undertake to avoid any act / statement which may be damaging to the reputation and integrity of another member and shall treat all members with fairness and professional courtesy.
  • Statements, by or on behalf of members, whether in advertisements, or otherwise, must be factual and must not contain misleading or extravagant claims.
  • Members advertising shall be truthful and shall accurately represent the service that he is able to offer.
  • In hiring out equipment, members will present a truthful representation of the equipment, its capabilities and the service being offered.
  • Members will at all times display their membership certificates in a prominent position at their place of business and display the C.P.H.A. logo on their plant.
  • Should a membership be terminated, that member shall no longer display his certificate or logo on his equipment or in any way hold himself out to be a member of the Association.
  • Any member reported to be in breach of The Code of Ethics, will be required to appear before and discuss his actions with The Ethics Committee.
